GREAT-grandma Ada Norfolk had plenty to celebrate when she marked her 100th birthday last week.
Mrs Norfolk, of Gemini Court, Pontefract, enjoyed birthday cake and a card from the Queen at her celebration with family and friends on September 14.
Her daughter, Sheila Ciplinski, said: “She is delighted, especially with her card.
“She lives on her own and still washes her windows, she has always been independent and likes to do things her way.”
Mrs Norfolk, who grew up in Knottingley, married husband Harry in 1934 and the couple had three children who all later joined Knottingley Silver Band.
Mrs Ciplinski, 64, said: “I don’t know what the neighbours used to think of us all practising, but mum used to grumble that we were making too much noise.
“She loved to go dancing and went to play bingo regularly. Now she comes to watch when the family goes bowling.”
