Aauthor Susanna Jennicrai has published her latest book in a bid to promote reading among schoolchildren.

Miss Jennicrai, asupply teacher at schools across the Five Towns, has now written five books for primary school children.

Her latest work, Button and Bow, is aimed at children aged three to five and tells the story of two friends, Button and Bow, who go on an adventure into the woods and meet wild animals.

One of the characters gets lost inside the wood but is saved by a giant owl who reunites Button and Bow.

Miss Jennicrai, 60, said: “Children don’t seem to read anymore and it’s such a vital thing for them to do.

“I hope the book helps children with their literacy and numeracy at school as well.”

Button and Bow is available from Amazon and Waterstone’s as well as Miss Jennicrai’s website priced £5.

She also hopes to publish a Christmas book for primary school children before the end of the year.
