STARS of the Featherstone community were recognised for their hard work at a special awards ceremony.
Seven dedicated campaigners and community leaders were honoured in the town council’s civic awards event earlier this month.
Award winners included Jono Lancaster for his work in raising awareness of his condition, Treacher Collins syndrome, Keith Bell and Arnie Morgan for their fundraising for Lions International, Olive Larkin for her work for the Prince of Wales Hospice, and Emma Thewlis, Norah Carlile and Janet Tate for services to the community.
Coun Graham Isherwood, town council leader, said: “A lot of people in Featherstone do good things but in this instance we chose these people for their outstanding contribution to Featherstone.
“They deserve to be recognised and it’s the town council’s way of saying thank you for all their hard work. They really are the unsung heroes of the community.”
