A man had to be freed from his car following a two car collision in Pontefract this evening (Wednesday).

Firefighters were called to Carleton Glen at around 6.40pm to reports of an accident between two cars.

Crews from Pontefract and Featherstone attended the scene along with ambulance staff.

A spokesman for West Yorkshire Fire Service said the man is now in the care of paramedics.

He added: “When fire crews arrived the casualty was not physically trapped but due to his injuries, the ambulance service requested that crews took the rear seats out and the casualty was taken out of vehicle on a spine board.”

The man has since been taken to hospital.
