A TEAM of calendar boys are preparing to strip of to raise money for the Prince of Wales Hospice – but need sponsors to help pay printing costs.
Julie Martin, 47, came up with the idea for a charity calendar to help her raise £2,250 to take part in the hospice’s Petra trek next year.
Her son, Matthew Williamson, 21, and stepson Ryan Martin, 19, both agreed to pose for the calendar, along with some of their friends and colleagues – inspired by the WI calendar girls.
Julie, of Ruskin Drive, Airedale, said: “It will a sport and fitness calendar, Lock Lane Sports Centre has agreed to let us take the pictures there, but I really need sponsorship to print the calendar.”
The money raised from sales of the calendar will help Julie take part in the hospice’s Petra trek, an eight-day walking challenge on an eight-day Bedouin migration route to Petra in Jordan in October next year.
She added: “The calendar started out as a bit of a joke suggestion, but my son said he was up for it and then asked his mates at work, and my stepson said he would do it and it’s snowballed from there.
“I’m asking firms and individuals to sponsor a month for £100, or £1,000 to sponsor the whole calendar.”
Sponsors will receive an acknowledgement or advert on the calendar and anyone interested can contact Julie on 07913 698189.
