A fundraising campaign has been launched to connect two pieces of land and extend a nature reserve at Wentbridge.
Yorkshire Wildlife Trust launched an appeal to raise £40,000 to buy a piece of land to reconnect two sections of Brockadale nature reserve.
The reserve is currently split into two sections but the Trust now has the chance to buy the land separating the two.
Ian Jelley, Yorkshire Wildlife Trust’s Regional Manager, said: “We are working hard to make our nature reserves bigger and better.
“Sites like Brockadale form islands in the landscape for species to thrive and be protected.
“This is a unique opportunity to purchase the missing piece of Brockadale and with it continue to enhance one of the premier sites for wildlife in Yorkshire, if not the UK.”
The Trust needs to raise £30,000 to purchase the land and a further £10,000 to restore the habitats on the land.
