rarely-performed John Godber comedy Weekend Breaks will tour the UK this spring after opening at Theatre Royal Wakefield on February 7.
Weekend Breaks is a comedy about culture clashes, which sees aspiring film writer Martin Dawson trying to patch things up with his actress wife and his disapproving working class parents after an extra-marital fling.
On a weekend break to Whitby, Martin rediscovers his roots and what it really means to love your parents – even when you want to kill them.
Casting has just been announced for Weekend Breaks, with Rob Hudson (The Bill, Red Riding, Mike Bassett: England Manager) starring as Martin Dawson, William Ilkley (Dalziel and Pascoe, Holby City, The Royal) as Len Dawson and Christine Cox (Emmerdale, The Body Farm) as Joan Dawson.
Weekend Breaks was written in 1997 and is John Godber’s 31st play. It is produced by the John Godber Company and Theatre Royal Wakefield as part of a new partnership, which sees two major tours of John’s work each year.
Weekend Breaks will be at Theatre Royal Wakefield from Tuesday February 7 to Saturday February 11, tickets cost £12, £16 and £18.
