Residents and businesses in Featherstone will have the opportunity to view progress on regeneration plans for the town at a meeting next week.

Wakefield Council is inviting the public to an information event at Wilson Street Methodist Church on Wednesday April 17 from 4pm to 7pm.

Plans and information about a number of schemes, including Verner Street, Featherstone Rovers, Green Lane and Girnhill will be on display.

People will also have the chance to meet representatives from the council, Wakefield and District Housing, Strata, Featherstone Town Council, police and home energy teams.

The council’s benefits team will also be on hand to give advice about changes which came into effect this month.

The town council will also hold its annual meeting at the event, starting at 6.30pm.

Coun Denise Jeffery, the council’s cabinet member for regeneration and economic growth, said: “This event is a chance for residents and business to see progress with regeneration plans for their area and to have their say.

“It is also a good opportunity for people who are worried about the new benefits changes to speak to one of our officers and get advice and support. I urge everyone in the community to take the time to come along to the event.”
