CHOCOHOLICS can sample sweet treats at the same time as raising cash for a cancer charity.

Sweet-toothed residents are invited to a Chocolate for Charity extravaganza at Cafe Thorntons at Glass Houghton’s Junction 32 shopping outlet to boost the coffers of the Dr Jackson Cancer Fund. The tasty event – from 7.30pm on Saturday November 19 – will see an icing competition, chocolate offers, a raffle and a talk on the history of Thorntons chocolatiers.

Maria Hayden, of the charity, said: “It should be a fun night with chocolate nibbles and an icing challenge for those who dare.

“Money raised will go towards our latest campaign to raise £79,000 for a multi-disciplinary meeting room.”

Tickets cost £5, which includes drinks and nibbles on arrival. They are available by contacting Maria on 01977 708686 or 01977 747491 or by visiting the Dr Jackson appeal’s office, Ewbank Room, New Frairwood House, Pontefract Hospital, Friarwood Lane, Pontefract. They are not available at Thorntons.
