Police officers and rugby stars have teamed up in a bid to help youngsters understand the dangers of crime.

Castleford Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) and Castleford Tigers have a launched the top trump card scheme to help keep children safe.

The 20 cards each feature a different Tigers’ player and contain messages warning children of the dangers of crime and anti-social behaviour.

PC Liam Gallagher, of Castleford NPT, said: “We want to get out among the local community, it’s not just about diverting children away from crime.

“The money for the project has been secured through the Proceed of Crime Act which shows that money taken from criminals is being put back into the community.”

PC Gallagher said: “We would like to thank everyone, including Tigers, for their support with this scheme.”
