Daredevil fundraisers Shaun Brocklehurst and Caroline Earnshaw will take to the skies to raise money for the St John Ambulance.

The duo, both from Castleford, trained as first aiders and now volunteer training youngsters in first aid skills at the charity’s Badgers programme in Knottingley.

They hope to raise at least £500 each for the charity by taking part in the skydive later this month.

Mr Brocklehurst, 40, said: “St John Ambulance does a great job in the community, particularly with young people.

“The charity provides them with a good, sound knowledge of first aid from a very young age and this equips them with lifesaving skills for the rest of their lives.” The duo will do the jump on September 27 as part of the St John Ambulance Superhero Skydive in Bridlington, which is open to anyone aged over 16. To take part people can pay a registration fee of £70 and must raise at least £395 for the charity.

Siobhan Sargeant, regional fundraising co-ordinator for St John Ambulance, said: “We hope everyone will get behind Caroline and Shaun and sponsor them to take part in our Superhero Skydive event.

“Anyone who has dreamed of flying like a superhero should join in. They’ll have an unforgettable experience while helping to save lives through supporting our first aid efforts.”
