Volunteers helped transform part of Fairburn Ings nature reserve into a wildflower haven when they took part in a planting project organised by Yorkshire Water.
Visitors to the reserve, near Castleford, helped plant 3,000 wildflower plugs in the shape of a giant hand, to help create habitats for wildlife, as part of Yorkshire Water’s Hands Up initiative to support the environment.
There was also facepainting and children’s activities on the day, including balloon sculpting, while everyone who attended also received a seedbomb.
