Coun Jeffery said: “The festive season is nearly upon us and the switch-ons are a great way to boost everyone’s spirits and bring more people into our town centres.
“I’m really pleased to be switching the lights on in Castleford and I’m sure it will be a great event.”
In Featherstone, town mayor Coun Margaret Isherwood will light up Station Lane at 6pm with help from gala queen Danya Taylor and Featherstone Rovers players.
Santa Claus will then take a sleigh ride down Station Lane to the precinct escorted by performers from Starlight Dance Academy and the town’s first team rugby players.
There will be performances from the dance academy and school choirs and shoppers can pick up last minute gifts between 4pm to 7pm at charity stalls in Wilson Street Methodist Church or the library community hall.
