Five hour trip not suitable

TO JOIN in the debate regarding hospitals in the area, I only live a mile from Pontefract Hospital.

In July I had an outpatient’s appointment at Pinderfields hospital at 3.15pm. I gave myself plenty of time to get there, but was still half an hour late for my consultant’s appointment. Luckily he understood and said lots of people were having trouble getting there.

My bus from Carleton failed to turn up, so I walked to Pontefract Hospital to catch the 2.15pm shuttle bus to Pinderfields. This also failed to materialise. I eventually arrived at Pinderfields after some two hours 45 minutes – I could have flown to Spain in less time! This resulted in a five hour round trip for a ten minute appointment.

A man visiting his wife told me he used the shuttle bus because he could never find anywhere to park at Pinderfields.

I dread to think what will happen if I ever have to attend Dewsbury hospital in the middle of winter.

Obviously the planners all have cars and have never had to rely on public transport.
