OLYMPIC torch fever will hit the district on Monday when the flame makes its way through Castleford, Pontefract and Ackworth.
Express reporters will be at each place talking to hundreds of spectators lining the streets and our photographers will be on hand to capture the moment our inspirational torchbearers help take the becaon on its 8,000 mile journey across the UK.
To help capture the buzz and excitement as the torch is passed along the route, we will be tweeting live from the event with the hashtag #pandctorch.
We encourage our readers to post their best relay route snaps onto our Facebook page or tweet them to @pandcexpress using our hashtag.
The torch is set to arrive in Castleford via Leeds Road at the junction of Joffre Avenue at approximately 11.49pm.
It is expected to hit Pontefract at 12.05pm along Front Street, before travelling up Jubilee Way, Mill Hill Road and past the King’s School on Ackworth Road.
At around 12.28pm the torch will taken up Pontefract Road to Ackworth School, and leave the district by Barnsley Road and Oakfield Park Primary School at Ackworth Moor Top.
All timings for the route are approximate and at other locations the torch has arrived either ahead of schedule or later than expected.
Visit www.wakefield.gov.uk for road closure updates and follow PCExp_Lauren, PCExp_Georgina and PCExp_Trish for up-to-the-minute torch tweets on the day.
