International footballer and A1 Football Factory co-boss Paul Green is to help youngsters achieve their sporting and educational goals.
The Republic of Ireland midfielder has teamed up with PTC Education to offer a BTEC course at the sporting complex on the A1 Business Park in Knottingley.
The new venture will be known as the A1 Football Factory Academy. It will offer youngsters aged 16 to 18 the chance to complete a level three sports qualification while developing their football skills under the guidance of the Rotherham United star and his coaching staff. The academy will also have an onsite educator. Students will get more than 15 hours per week of education and over 10 hours of football, including competitive fixtures in the English Colleges Football League.
Ex Leeds star Mr Green, 32, said “I have always wanted to give something back to football. I’m really excited by this project. I want to help youngsters have every chance of making their way into professional football, but I know from experience how hard that can be. For those that are not fortunate this academy will help them achieve academically and to develop their football skills.”
PTC education director Adam Nixon said: “We are delighted to have a current professional footballer of Paul Green’s calibre joining forces with us. He has a fantastic pedigree in football and has played against the world’s best footballers, someone of his calibre helping to develop youngsters both physically and academically is a great coup.”
The A1 Football Factory Academy is based at Unit 1 on the A1 Business Park in Knottingley. It is now taking applications for September 2016. Contact PTC Education on 01977 677721 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
