Dozens of model railways are on display this weekend as Wakefield’s Annual Model Railway Show returns for its 54th year.

The Wakefield Railway Modellers’ Society is holding the event at Thornes Park Athletics Stadium, Wakefield, on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Organisers are hoping there will be around 20 displays and 30 trade stalls at the event.

Stephen Foster, exhibition manager for the show, said: “We normally get between 2,500 to 2,700 people visiting and the event puts around £15,000 into the local economy with traders, the venue, food businesses and local hotels benefiting.”

It takes place between 5.30pm and 9pm and continues on Saturday between 10am and 6pm and on Sunday between 10am and 5pm.

Admission to the event costs £7 for adults, £5 for pensioners and £2 for children.

A family ticket - for two adults and two children - costs £15.

Parking is available free of charge. For more information on the event visit the club’s website at www.wakefieldrms.org
