A family fun day in memory of a beloved brother and friend helped raise cash for Pontefract’s Prince of Wales Hospice.

Sister Sharon Ucar and friend Louise Clarke organised the event at The Hemsworth on the second anniversary of Michael David Tinsley’s death.

Mr Tinsley, of Hemsworth, died in the hospice aged 38 on July 5, 2012.

Ms Ucar said: “The fun day went really well and we raised £1,607 for the hospice which is fantastic.

“I’d just like to thank everyone who helped out and donated prizes for the raffle. It was a great day.”

The event was the third annual fun day held in Mr Tinsley’s memory.

Ms Ucar added: “Before he passed away Michael had three wishes, one was for a family day and he never got to have it. This is his friends and family’s way to give the hospice something back for what they did for Michael.”

The total was also boosted by a charity bag pack at Iceland and a sponsored slim by Tina Wiles.

Ms Ucar said: “It’s a nice event because it gets the Hemsworth community together.”
