COME rain or shine, Saturday promises a jam-packed calendar of events across the Five Towns.

Darrington Feast and Fair kicks off at noon with a five mile fun run at the village fields.

The event, which is now in its 29th year, also includes live music, with dancing from Dance Fusion and the Linbar Majorettes.

Carr Bridge playing fields in Ackworth plays host to the village gala from 12.30pm.

MBE recipient Sue Marley will officially open the gala and help judge a 1950s themed fancy dress competition.

In Castleford a Royal British Legion march will celebrate the unveiling of the town’s new war memorial outside the Legion club on Powell Street.

The procession will kick off outside the Territorial HQ next to the Castleford Civic Centre at 11am and march through the town centre.

Over at Castleford Tigers’ Probiz colliseum, the Tigers Together gala will run from 10am to 3.30pm.

More than 200 youngsters will compete in a tag rugby competition and there will be stalls, a funfair and BBQ.

All profits from the day will go to the Tigers Together charitable trust.
