STAFF at Castleford’s Bridge Arts gallery are calling for more volunteers to help attract new visitors to the creative centre.

The Sagar Street gallery, which runs exhibitions and art workshops for residents across the area, has been closed for the last month while the second floor of the building has been prepared as a temporary home for the town’s library, which is being refurbished.

Mandy Williams, Bridge Arts’ manager, said: “We run regular workshops which are really popular and now we hope with the help of more volunteers we will be able to extend our cafe’s opening hours from 10am to 3pm.

“We are very happy the library has moved in with us and hopefully it will attract new people who use the library to check out the workshops we have going on here.”

The gallery which – which has displayed exhibitions by the Castleford Heritage Trust – runs various sessions, including knitting, quilt making and painting.

Bridge Arts will reopen on Monday January 16. For more information call 01977 556741.
