And furniture will be donated to create a new family room at the children’s burns unit at Pinderfields as part of the annual appeal by the Yorkshire Beerpigs and Featherstone Spartans scooter clubs.

Organiser Sam Garside said two sofas would be given to the unit. She said: “It’s to have a space where parents can go and speak to doctors if they need to, or spend some time when things get a bit much for them.”

People are invited to watch the riders on their journey on Saturday.

They will leave the Hope and Anchor Inn, on North Baileygate, Pontefract, at 8.50am and ride to Green Lane Working Men’s Club in Featherstone for around 9am.
