Free health checks are being offered to people in Pontefract next week with a special event at the town’s St Giles’ Church.
Health trainers from South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust are inviting people along to the event on Wednesday July 3 from 10am to 1pm in a bid to improve their health and wellbeing.
There will also benity to network with support agencies and information stalls at the event will include free NHS health checks carried out by the health trainers, advice from the stop smoking service, community food and health workers, Arthritis Care and many more.
Health trainers offer support, motivation and encouragement to anyone who would like to make healthy changes to their lifestyle.
Each health trainer works with people on a one-to-one basis and can help with a variety of issues including weight management, healthy eating, stress, stopping smoking, physical activity and alcohol. They help individuals to set realistic personal goals and find other services that may benefit and help them to maintain changes they‘ve made so far.
Rita Gooding, senior health trainer, said: “We have a great number of health and wellbeing resources available in Pontefract. We’d like to invite anybody who lives in the area to come along to this event to find out more about them and how they can be accessed.”
