Staff at Premier Inn in Castleford joined in a marathon charity effort to raise more than £3,500 for Great Ormond Street Hospital.

They were part of the Wakefield Castleford Cluster of hotels which held a week of fundraising activities to support the London hospital, which cares for seriously ill children throughout the country.

Staff at the Glass Houghton hotel held a 24-hour sleep-in reception, with workers in pyjamas collecting cash, which raised £300 – the weekly target for the fundraising challenge.

They also raffled off a family ticket to Alton Towers and the fundraising culminated in a 16.4-mile walk between all the hotels in the cluster, with staff being sponsored for the walk as well as collecting cash on the day, bringing the total raised for charity to £3,552.
