Hundreds line streets for St George’s parade

More than 300 people lined the streets of Pontefract for the second St George’s Day parade through the town.

Scouts, cubs, beavers and St John’s Ambulance volunteers joined in the celebrations on Sunday as the groups marched from Pontefract Town Hall to St Giles’ Church.

Knottingley Silver Band also performed and there was a service at St Giles’ Church.

John Fisher, deputy district commissioner for Pontefract and Castleford district scouts, said: “It went very well and the church was full for the service.”
