The number of people claiming out-of-work benefits across the Five Towns fell for the seventh month in a row in October.
There were 2,695 people in the Pontefract and Castleford area claiming Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA), according to the latest figures from the Office for National Statistics.
The fall comes after 2,859 people claimed JSA in September, down from 3,055 in August.
Long term youth unemployment across the Five Towns also fell last month.
The number people aged 16-24 claiming JSA for a year or more fell to 180, compared to 185 in September.
Nationally, the number of unemployed fell by fell by 48,000 to 2.47 million between July and September.
Youth unemployment fell to 965,000 nationally.
