Power bosses are recruiting staff for the new multi-fuel energy plant being built at Ferrybridge power station.
The plant, due to be operational from summer 2015, will be run by Multifuel Energy, a joint venture between power station owners SSE and Wheelabrator Technologies.
Once running, it will create around 50 full-time jobs. 20 operational and management jobs are currently being advertised.
Wakefield Council leader Peter Box said: “It is good to see a business like Multifuel Energy investing in our local jobs market.
“This is an excellent opportunity for this area and I hope local people who feel they have the right skills and experience will apply.”
Tom Maillet, director of engineering and operations, said positions available would include technicians and shift leaders.
Mr Maillet added: “In order to ensure the success of the operational plant, we are keen to attract, develop and retain highly-skilled, experienced and talented individuals.”
