ON Saturday June 2 a garden party was held at The Grange, Carleton, Pontefract to celebrate the diamond jubilee.
Hundreds enjoyed the stalls, rides and catering (pictured) as well as their own picnic in the gardens. West Yorkshire Astronomical Society’s observatory was open, as was the Pontefract Amateur Radio Society’s base.
Pontefract Camera Club showed an electronic slide show of pictures as well as framed prints. Campsall Art group held an exhibition of their paintings in the foyer.
The Grange bar was very popular where the Derby was shown on the big screen.
Luckily the weather was reasonable and a good day was had by all, whatever their interests.
The dance section held a special jubilee dance in the evening. David Carlyle, the centre’s chairman said he was happy so many families used the centre and experienced the excellent facilities provided for community use.
