PARISHIONERS past and present reunited last weekend to celebrate the 20th anniversary of a village church.
Members of Ackworth Community Church marked the second decade of worship at the Bell Lane site at a reunion on Saturday evening and a special service on Sunday.
Current residents were joined by those who returned to the village especially for the event and to commemorate the church’s birthday.
Ashley Guest, pastor of the church, said: “It was an opportunity for people to reconnect – that was the main focus of the event.
“With it coming up to 20 years since our first service in October 1991, we thought it would be lovely to see people again.”
Mr Guest said people travelled from all over the country to look back on the church’s history and they also received messages from all over the world.
He said: “People who came through the church over the years sent messages from America and Australia so it was really nice to hear from them again.
“We had a good time, a good number of people turned up throughout the day and we looked at photographs and videos from past events
“I think everyone who came enjoyed it, it was quite touching.”
Currently the church has around 35 members who attend the Sunday service.
