SONGSTRESS Lauren Croft is one step away from performing in the O2 arena in front of thousands of music fans after flying through the second round of a national competition.
The 20-year-old, of Forge Hill Lane, Knottingley, has made it to Open Mic UK’s area final after impressing a panel of judges who put her through to the next round, along with three other musical hopefuls, at the regional finals at Dewsbury Town Hall last month.
Mum-of-one Lauren said: “I am so happy to have made it through to next round. I sang my own rendition of ‘30 Seconds To Mars - The Kill’ at the audition and beat 23 contestants to the next round.
“I have been singing since I was around 10 years old but have only recently had the courage to pursue something at a more professional level.”
Lauren beat hundreds of aspiring singers at the open auditions in Leeds in September and is now in the final 450 nationwide who will have the chance to qualify for the O2.
She will battle it out against all the north east and Scotland regional winners at Dewsbury Town Hall on November 24. Visit www.openmicuk.co.uk for more information.
