A young family including a five-month-old baby had to flee their home after an arson attack in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
Cardboard was set alight and put through the letterbox of the house on St Giles’ View, Pontefract, just before 3.30am.
A 19-year-old male occupant managed to put out the flames before Pontefract firefighters arrived. A20-year-old woman and a 14-year-old female were also in the house at the time. All escaped unhurt.
Police and fire are investiging the incident, and anyone with information is asked to call Wakefield CID on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
