It’s time to show your support for teenager Sophie May Williams when she sings for survival in the live quarter finals of the Voice UK on Saturday.

The 17-year-old, from Wrenthorpe, was the last member of Will-i-am’s team to be put through to the knockout stages last Sunday.

She impressed the Black Eyed Peas star with her version of Audrey Hepburn’s Moon River.

She said: “I am over the moon. I really don’t want it to end, it is overwhelming because you know how good everyone is and you are thinking ‘oh I am up against all these people’.”

Each team - led byWill-i-am, Kylie , Kaiser Chief Ricky Wilson and Tom Jones - has three members remaining in the competition.

Sophie went through to represent Team Will, along with Jermain Jackman and Iesher Haughton.

With Will-i-am describing Sophie’s talent as being as rare as a Unicorn.

On Saturday, two people from each team will go through - one chosen by the team coach and one by viewer votes - to the semi finals.

Sophie is now living in London while she remains on the show.

She said: “I am so nervous about the live rounds but mostly I am excited. I am hoping that I can go far in the next stage.”

The Outwood Grange Academy student has won over the hearts of Wakefield people, who took to Facebook and Twitter to congratulate her.

Glenys Barbara Dainton said: “I was shouting for her, I love her and her whole look, she’s great. She can sing, she has a unique style.”
