There’s a cash prize up for grabs for the winner of our Letters to the Editor competition for youngsters.

The competition for 11 to 16-year-olds proved so successful last year, that we are running it again.

It invites students to submit 200-word letters on any subject or issue that might be of interest to them.

The best entries will be published on a special letters page next month, and readers will vote for the overall prize winner, which will be announced before the summer holidays.

Judges will be looking for letters written from the heart, in the young person’s own style, which will grab the readers’ attention with a persuasive or perhaps even funny argument.

Last year, topics covered across Express titles, included everything from a lack of facilities for youngsters, benefit cuts, self-harm, animal cruelty and the government’s attempts to make the summer holidays shorter. Teachers found the competition to be a good homework exercise.

Entries must be emailed to julie.sambrook@pandcexpress.co.uk by Wednesday, June 4.

Please put LETTERS COMPETITION in the subject box and ensure that the name and age of the entrant are included on the letter, as well as contact details.

Call 01924 433005 for more information.
