The event, on Thursday September 1 from 9am-4pm, will run alongside the town’s already established second-hand market and aims to extend the type of goods and items which are available.

It’s a chance to sell good quality older items such as clothes, china, books and unusual objects.

Coun Denise Jeffery, Cabinet Member for Economic Growth and Skills at Wakefield Council, said: “I’d like to encourage traders to get in touch, book a stall and support this exciting new venture.

“We have a successful Preloved Market in South Elmsall and we’d like to see the same happening at Castleford. Our friendly staff at the market office are happy to give advice and help.”

The cost is £10 per stall, with a limit of one stall per trader.

To book a stall, call at the Market Office, at Carlton Street, or ring 01977 727196, from Monday to Saturday.
