Students at Castleford Academy set up their own indoor market to raise both money and awareness for several different charities.

Year eight pupils at the school designed their own market stalls and created products to sell in the school sports hall last Monday in aid of their chosen charities.

Each class was supporting a different charity, including RSPCA, Diabetes UK and Cancer Research and competed to see who could raise the most money. The event raised a total of £440 for eight different charities.

Michaela Page, who helped organise the event, said: “All of the teachers would like to thank all year eight students for their hard work on the project and for doing such an amazing job for such great causes.

“We’d also like to thank the other students and staff whose generosity helped to make the event such a success.”

Some stallholders sold goods, such as cake and crafts, while others opted to run games and activities including a ‘shoot-a-hoop’ basketball stand and a nail painting booth.
