Diner insures chief eater's tummy for £1m

A competitive eater who is sinking his teeth into a new job at an American diner could have his tummy insured - for £1m.

Adam Moran, from Whitwood, has landed the plum role as CEO - chief eating officer - at Huckleberry’s in Leeds and York after dessert-ing his 10 year career in banking.

The 31-year-old (also known as Beard Meats Food) is the UK’s number one competitive eater and already holds the titles of Yorkshire Pudding Eating World Champion and Big Mac Eating British Record Holder.

His meaty new role will involve testing out Man vs Food style challenges, as well as taking on diners in head-to-head contests. Bosses at the diner are so keen on Mr Moran that they’re looking to insure his stomach and taste buds for £1m.

Mr Moran said: “This is literally the dream job for anyone interested in food. Huckleberry’s is a great restaurant and I’m confident I haven’t bitten off more than I can chew. I’m looking forward to working with Huckleberry’s chefs to come up with some inspired new challenge dishes, breaking some more world records and I’m relishing the opportunity of going head to head with members of the public who fancy taking on the Beard.”
