A talented tumbler is flying high after being selected to represent Great Britain.
Ellie Pearson, 12, will take part in her first international competition, the Loule Cup, in Portugal in September.
She is also hoping to be one of four who will represent team GB at the World Tumbling Championships at Daytona Beach, Florida in November.
The dedicated youngster, who trains five times a week at Wakefield Gym Club, has been a gymnast since she was seven and started tumbling just over a year ago.
The sport of tumbling does not get any funding, so to be able to compete, Ellie needs to raise £1,000 for the Portugal trip and another £2,500 to take part in the world championships.
Proud mum, Diane Pearson said: “It is a massive achievement for her to be selected for team GB at the age of 12.
“We couldn’t be prouder of her. It would be devastating for it to be just within her grasp and miss out just because we didn’t have the money.”
Ellie, of Mill Lane, Ackworth, is taking part in fundraising events to try and raise the cash.
She is doing a sponsored plank challenge, where she will hold the plank conditioning position for as long as she can, at Aspire gym at 6pm today.
She will also have a tombola stall at Ackworth Gala on Sunday, June 28.
Ellie, a pupil at Crofton Academy, said: “I am the happiest I’ve ever been.
“I have wanted to be selected for Great Britain since I was seven and now all of my dreams have come true.”
