A charity fashion show at a church has raised nearly £900 for the Prince of Wales Hospice.

The fundraiser, at St Giles’ in Pontefract town centre last month, attracted 100 fashionistas.

Organiser Soo Beddow said: “The event was a great success and Complete Clothing who did the fashion show helped us raise a total of £879.70.

“St Giles’ church was a brilliant venue and I was overwhelmed with the turnout. The church was full of smiling ladies eager to support the event.”

The models, aged 17 to 60, were all volunteers. They turned the aisle into a catwalk.

Soo added: “I asked the audience if they could ‘help put the fun into fundraising’ and raise much needed funds for a very special place.

“I am always staggered when I explain that it takes £250 an hour to run the hospice.

“I pointed out how proud they should all be tonight because without there help, also the models and helpers the event just could not take place.

“The applause and cheers were much appreciated by the models as they began to strut their stuff down the aisle. All signs of nerves soon disappeared.

“Complete Clothing put on a great show for us and I was asked by many would there be another show.

“I am already organising an autumn/winter show so please look on the hospice’s website or watch this space for details.”
