Firefighters across the district walked out on strike today as part of a dispute over pensions.
Members of the Fire Brigades Union staged a four-hour walk out as a result of government plans which would see firefighters in England only receive their full pension if they work until 60.
The union says many firefighters will be unable to maintain their fitness standards into their late 50s and it would endanger the public.
Those retiring early would lose thousands on their pension, but the government says it cannot afford current pension arrangements.
Firefighters walked out at noon and will be on strike for four hours.
