Plans have been submitted to demolish a former church in Castleford and build four houses on the site.
The applicant, M Rotherforth, hopes to demolish the former Cutsyke Methodist Church, on Leeds Road, and replace it with four townhouses.
A planning statement submitted to Wakefield Council as part of the application said: “The site is currently in poor condition, overgrown and with fence panels missing.
“The site is detrimental to the visual amenity of the area and also creates the opportunity for crime and anti-social behaviour.
“The redevelopment of the site for residential purposes will be of benefit to the immediate area in redeveloping a redundant resource and providing much needed housing within a sustainable location.”
