Committed jobseekers across the area have been given the chance to develop their skills as part of a scheme run by housing bosses.
Seven young people will spend six months with Wakefield and District Housing (WDH) as part of the scheme which is now in its second y ear.
Karen Tran, 22, from Knottingley has been unemployed for a year since graduating from the University of Hull with a degree in business.
Miss Tran, who is working in WDH’s human resources department, said: “The placement has been really enjoyable so far. Working as part of the team I’m gaining valuable experience and learning new skills every day.
“It’s a fantastic opportunity and I’m really grateful.”
Thirty six jobseekers have carried out six-month placements with WDH since the scheme started last year.
Tim Craven, WDH’s social investment manager, said: “It’s always nice to be able to offer employment opportunities those who live locally. We’re committed to helping youngsters.”
