Just days left until Wakefield Council and West Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) elections

There is less than one week to go until voters take to the polls for the local Wakefield Council and West Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) elections.

Polling stations across the district will be open from 7am until 10pm on Thursday, May 5. Those wanting to cast their vote should attend the station listed on their polling card between these times.

Eighty candidates will contest 21 seats in the council elections, one in each of the district’s wards.

The seats include that of current council leader Peter Box, which will be contested in the Altofts and Whitwood ward.

Voters will also elect a West Yorkshire PCC. The PCC’s roles include setting the force’s budget, setting and monitoring a police and crime plan and holding the chief constable to account.

A list of candidates who are standing in both the PCC and council elections can be found on the Wakefield Council website, along with more details on how to vote.
