A production of Shakespeare’s Macbeth will be staged at Pontefract Castle this summer.

Heartbreak Productions is bringing to life the Bard’s powerful tragedy among the castle ruins on Friday August 15 at 7pm.

The play is part of Wakefield Council’s 2014 Events at the Castles programme and have been organised in conjunction with Pontefract Heritage Group and the Friends of Pontefract Castle.

Pontefract Castle will also provide the backdrop to Proms in the Castle on Saturday July 12 at 7.30pm when the West Yorkshire Symphony Orchestra will play a selection of classical music.

There will also be a free Picnic in the Castle event at the castle on Saturday July 12 from 11am to 4pm.
