Champagne corks were popping as a nursery in Castleford opened its doors to the public for the first time.

Staff at Bright Sparks Nursery, on Poplar Avenue, Airedale, have opened a second facility at The Green, in Ferry Fryston.

They marked the occasion with an open day and Castleford Tigers’ stars Danny Orr and James Clare, along with the club’s mascot Tigerman, cut the ribbon to officially open the new facility.

Shauna Arundel, nursery nurse at Bright Sparks, said: “It was a fantastic day. It went really well and we had a really good turnout.

“Everybody seemed to enjoy it and we had a lot of parents bring their children to the event.

“We had some parents whose children already go to our nursery in Airedale and we also had some people come who want their children to attend the new one. It was a great day.”

More than 200 people attended the event last weekend including Airedale and Ferry Fryston councillor Les Shaw.

For more information on either of the two nurseries, call Jodie Heinsohn on 01977 503107.
