Police appeal after suitcase stolen from train

British Transport Police officers are appealing for help to identify a man they would like to speak to in connection with the theft of suitcase from a train travelling between Doncaster and Wakefield.

They have released an image of a man who they believe may have information which can assist the investigation in to the theft on Friday, March 21.

Investigating officer, PC Gary Reader, said: “A man boarded the 13.35 London Kings Cross to Leeds service at Doncaster and sat down. Just prior to the train arriving into Wakefield the man removed a suitcase from the luggage rack in the vestibule area of coach B on the service and left the train at Wakefield with the bag.

“When the train arrived into Leeds, the victim, a 39-year-old woman from London, realised her suitcase, which contained a number of personal items including a mini iPad, and contacted police.”

The man pictured, was wearing a distinctive ‘Blur’ branded hooded jumper with the words ‘California’ across the front.
