Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman suffered a fractured jaw in an assault in a nightclub in Pontefract.

The 21-year-old victim was approached by the stranger and punched in the face, near the bar area of a nightclub in Beastfair, at around 2.10am on Sunday, February 23.

The man is described as white, in his early 20s, of slim build, with short, dark brown hair which was gelled in a spikey style. He was wearing a long-sleeved red and white checked shirt which was fully fastened with the sleeves down and blue jeans. He spoke with a local accent.

Inspector Richard Sullivan, of the Pontefract and Knottingley Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “This was a nasty, unprovoked assault which has left a young woman with a fractured jaw. I would urge anyone who was out in Pontefract that night and either witnessed this assault or may have information about the man responsible to call 101.”
