POLICE in Featherstone have teamed up with youngsters to show off their moves in a Gangnam Style video.

Officers from the Normanton and Featherstone neighbourhood policing team (NPT) danced to the popular tune to promote a talent contest.

The video, which was filmed by Wakefield College student James Carepenter, was shown to schools across the NPTs to encourage them to take part in the Future Stars Competition.

The competition, which was held last Wednesday at the Purston E-Act Academy, saw youngsters compete in under 11s and over 11s categories.

More than 200 people saw 7-year-old Charlotte Coen of Normanton Common Primary School and 16-year-old duo act Hannah Braham and Will Wedgwood crowned the winners.

Organiser PCSO Katie Hester, of the NPT, said: “It was brilliant. All of the acts were really good and everyone had a great night.

The two acts from the Featherstone event will now go through to compete against winners from other NPTs at a grand final at Theatre Royal, Wakefield on March 1.
