Pontefract and Castleford Express or Castleford and Pontefract Express - let us know your thoughts

We are into the second week of getting feedback about possible changes to the P&C Express, and there have been some interesting comments made.

Last week we floated the idea of splitting the paper into two editions, one for Castleford and one for Pontefract.

This would mean that if you buy your Pontefract & Castleford Express you’ll get two extra pages of Pontefract (and surrounding area) news, while if you buy a newly-rebranded Castleford & Pontefract Express those pages will contain Castleford (and surrounding area) coverage.

Interestingly, we’ve had some feedback suggesting an alternative – a single newspaper that covers the whole of the Wakefield District.

This would be bigger, and would therefore cost more, but seems to hold some appeal.

So which one do you think would be best?

Or some have said they are happy with how we cover their local news now, and want to see the Pontefract and Castleford Express continue as it is.

Do you agree and, if so, perhaps you may have suggestions about the content you would like to see more or less of?

If readers support the editions idea we’ll launch it for an eight-week trial period and if we sell more copies we’ll continue to dedicate the extra resources to it.

We’d also like to invite anyone who would want to contribute to the newspaper in general to get in touch with us, especially if you’re passionate about the area you live in.

I’ve already had emails from several people connected with community groups, but I’m also keen to hear from individuals who feel they can make a regular contribution regarding local issues.

Please do take a moment to send us your views and I’ll report back to you all once more about the feedback we receive.

You can get in touch with us by post - send your letter to The Editor, Pontefract & Castleford Express, First Floor, Bullring House, 23 Northgate, Wakefield, WF1 3BJ.

Or why not drop me an email - you can do so at mark.bradley@jpress.co.uk

We’ll also be uploading this article onto our Facebook site where you can also leave your comments too.
