Talented youngsters from Airedale Academy will jet off on the trip of a lifetime when to perform to crowds at Disneyland in Paris.

A group of BTEC musical theatre students have been invited to entertain visitors at the French resort next month.

The students, aged between 16 and 19, have been rehearsing for their 30-minute spot since November.

Tracey Bell, artistic director at the school, said: “The students are so excited about the trip.

“They’re all solely studying performing arts and hoping to make that their career, so for them to get the chance to perform at Disneyland is amazing.”

The group was invited after sending audition clips to producers at the resort.

Mrs Bell added: “I am so proud of them all and it’s reward for all the hard work they have put in. They are so committed to making performing arts a career.

“They practice from 8am to 9.30pm every day of the week and are a pleasure to work with.”

The group will also perform a production of Barry Manilow’s Copacabana later this month.

The musical will be performed at Castleford Phoenix Theatre, next to the school on Crewe Road, from Thursday February 27 to Saturday, March 1.

Tickets cost £10 for adults and £6 for concessions. To book call the box office on 07809 483764.
