A Castleford church is helping families in need across the town by setting up a clothes swap shop .
The shop, at All Saints Church, is being run by Castleford Team Parish.
The organisation, which runs four churches in the town, set up a food bank last July and opened the swap shop to further its support to cash-strapped families in the town.
Karen Richardson, project co-ordinator, said: “The food bank has been going really well so we thought about what else we could do to help families in Castleford.
“I think there are more and more families in need these days and we’re not just talking about people on benefits.
“There are people who are working and still struggling to make ends meet.”
The swap shop is open for residents across the area to use on every Thursday from 10am to 12pm.
It operates a “like-for-like” policy on clothes, where if residents bring two items, they are able to exchange them for two items.
Mrs Richardson said: “If somebody has clean, good quality items then they can bring them in and swap them for others.
“Families can swap children’s clothes for bigger sizes but we also have adult clothes too. It’s just all about helping families in need.”
