Featherstone Library and Community Centre will close for six weeks while refurbishment works take place.
The facility, on Victoria Street, will close on Saturday, February 22 and reopen to the public on Monday, April 7.
The revamp will include new central heating, shelving and furniture.
Coun David Dagger, Wakefield Council’s cabinet member for culture, sport and libraries, said: “We are improving the environment of the library to make it more modern and enjoyable to visitors.
“I hope this will also encourage new customers to come and see what it has to offer.”
A mobile library will run a temporary book loan service in the car park next to the library during the six-week period.
The mobile library will be open from 10am to 5pm Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, and 9am to 1pm Saturday.
Residents can use computers at Pontefract and Castleford libraries.
